ABOUT AMY

It is both an honor and a privilege to be invited in to the private life of a teenage girl , particularly when the waters are rough.  I am forever grateful for these moments of tenderness and change.

Amy Frisch, LCSW-R is a licensed psychotherapist who specializes in work with teenage girls through group work, retreats and psychotherapy services.  Amy has developed a dynamic, creative and unique private practice over the past 20 years and is committed to helping young women find their voice and aspire to meet their highest potential. Her therapeutic orientation aligns heavily with theories of existentialism, self-psychology and holistic wellness. She is currently collaborating with local businesses in the development of a Young Leaders Program and is a Certified Trainer of the Gurian Institute (www.gurianinstitute.com) which provides brain-based, research-driven strategies to educators that improve the academic success and social emotional learning to students. Additionally, Amy is honored to serve on the Board of Directors for Girls on the Run (www.girlsontherunhv.org), an international empowerment program for young girls grade 3-5 & 6-8, and is an avid supporter of Odyssey Teen Camp (https://www.odysseyteencamp.com/).

Amy received her MSW from Fordham University. She began her career working with terminally ill patients at Hudson Valley Hospice and assisted in the development of the bereavement program for children and adults. She then received her School Social Work Certification during her collaborative work in the Kingston City School District and Ulster County Dept. of Mental Health, providing Jungian play therapy and family therapy to at-risk youth. She is SIFI (Seminar Training in Field Supervision) certificate to supervise master level clinical interns and has provided professional consultation to the YMCA, AnyTime Home Care, and Odyssey Teen Camp.

In a 2022 post-pandemic, yet far from healed world, Amy added a small select team of heart-felt clinicians to her practice, expanding into Orange and Ulster counties. They were honored to be an integral support to Rondout Valley Central School District’s reopening plan post-Covid and continue to offer SEL support services within the district. Amy’s team includes art and drama therapists, family and marriage therapists, social workers, mental health counselors and clinical interns who provide in-house services at local school districts, volunteer at local health fairs and are committed to supporting the needs of our community.

Despite her years of clinical experience, education, post-graduate training, and remarkable mentors along the way, Amy holds the conviction that her own two teenagers will forever be her most powerful teachers.
